Poker is a card game where players bet on the strength of their hands. There are a variety of forms of the game, but all share certain key principles. The next highest is a straight, followed by a full house and then a pair.

One of the most important aspects of the game is understanding how to read other players’ tells. This is accomplished through studying their body language and other physical cues. A player’s tell can reveal information about the strength of their hand, such as if they are bluffing or overthinking their decisions.

While there are many books dedicated to poker strategy, it is ultimately up to the individual player to develop a unique strategy through careful self-examination and frequent discussion with other players. The best players continually tweak their strategy based on their results, and never stop learning.
