Poker is a family of card games that involves a number of rounds of betting. There are different variants and rules vary by region. However, most games have at least one betting interval and are played with at least five cards.<\/p>\n
A betting interval occurs after each round of dealing, and after the player shuffles the deck. Players can choose to check, raise or fold. They can also use all five of their cards.<\/p>\n
The smallest amount a player can wager is referred to as the ante. This is usually a small bet, but may be as large as $5 or as little as a nickel.<\/p>\n
The ante is the ‘buy-in’ for the round. Depending on the game and the number of players, the ante can be as low as a few cents or as high as several dollars. Generally, the table will determine the ante.<\/p>\n
In some games, the ante is used as a forced bet, as in the Three-Card Brag, or in other games, as a way to determine the odd chip.<\/p>\n
When a player draws their first hand, he is called the first dealer. He has the responsibility to deal the rest of the cards to the other players.<\/p>\n
A three-card brag is a popular gentleman’s game that evolved from Primero in the U.K. Today, it is the most common type of poker.<\/p>\n
