In poker, a straight is a hand where you have at least two different cards with the same suit, excluding the ace. A pair of aces, however, is considered a low hand. If you have two pairs of aces, the higher card wins the pot. As such, a straight from the top is called a rock, while a pair of aces is known as an overplay.<\/p>\n
When playing poker, the players each place bets using betting chips. The amount that each player bets varies depending on the game being played. Once everyone has placed their bets, they proceed clockwise until all players have called or folded. This process repeats until the winner has the highest hand. There are many variations of poker.<\/p>\n
In theoretical poker, the stakes can be doubled every time a player raises their bets, but house rules usually only allow double-raising for a limited number of raises. This means that if you raise more than three or four times, you risk forcing yourself out of the game. Historically, however, the stakes can only be doubled once.<\/p>\n
