The game of Poker begins with any player dealing a pack of cards to each other face down. The next player to deal will do the same in a clockwise fashion until one player has a jack. This player becomes the first dealer and the next turn passes to that player. Each player has a turn to bet, deal, and reveal his or her hand. During each betting interval, the dealer may shuffle his or her cards. However, the dealer has the last say. When the dealer is about to deal, he or she must first offer a shuffled pack to the player to their right. The player must accept the cut, or bet at the minimum.<\/p>\n
The betting intervals are different in each variation of poker. For example, in stud poker, the first player must “raise” the bet of the previous player. Then, the player to his or her left must either “call” or “raise” the previous player’s bet. When the last player has “dropped”, he or she must place the same number of chips into the pot as the previous player. This process is repeated as many times as necessary.<\/p>\n
When the betting is over, a new round begins. Each player is dealt seven cards. In stud poker, the best hand is the best five-card hand. During this betting phase, players reveal their cards. If the player’s hand is the best, the player wins the pot. If the player does not have the right five-card hand, the game ends and a new round begins.
