In the modern world cell phones have literally taken over. We have hardly noticed how many people actually have their nose in a phone; all you have to do is look around – it’s everybody.

Not only has the smartphone takeover caused us to be more disconnected than ever, it also seems to be posing physical health threats! Questions about cell phone safety arose in the early 1990’s, when a businessman filed a lawsuit alleging that cell phones caused his wife’s death due to brain cancer.

Cell phones release something called Electromagnetic Radiation, also known as EMR. This radiation can pose a ton of health risks for humans.

    Some of these include:

Other rare cases show that it can even cause changes in brain activity and can cause infertility in some men!

Dr. Devra Davis is an American scientist who has studied this subject for a very long time. In fact, she is giving every person with a cell phone a serious warning; and it’s kind of scary. In a talk at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, she said:

“The pattern of putting cell phones in the bra, and now there’s a new device where you can actually have the phone strapped to your head, made me concerned about what we know about exposure to phones.”

She further says that they can contribute to depression, diabetes, and heart problems. Even more dangerous than storing them in your pocket, is putting them in your bra! This can severely increase your risk of breast cancer! Also, you probably wouldn’t want EMR so close to your heart either.

Cell phones and the internet in general are extremely powerful tools, and can be unimaginably beneficial to society. However, like most things, it must be used in moderation. Water is great, but it can kill you too. When people tell you this isn’t true, just know all of this is factually based, and even if it wasn’t, you are better safe than sorry right?
