“Weather Bomb” Storm Barbara set to batter the UK with 100 mph winds and more flooding and bringing chaos to Christmas preperations

    Storm Barbara.

    Britain’s
second named storm of the year is set to cause chaos to the islands run up to
Christmas with “weather bomb” storm Barbara to impact later today with more
flooding and winds touching 100 mph.
    The Met
Office has warned that the imminent Storm Barbara is a ‘weather bomb’ which
will lash Britain with rain and wind and is set to disrupt millions of people
travelling around the UK leading up to the Christmas holiday.
    The UK’s
airports are certain to be hit by delays including Heathrow, Gatwick and London
    City.
    The Met
Office said it is an intense low pressure system with a central pressure that
falls 24 millibars in a 24-hour period, leading to increasing rotation, which
in turn creates more vigorous winds.

    Forecasters
said the phenomena are fairly common during the winter, but it is unusual for
such a system to pass close to the UK.
