The First Space-Based Nation Is Accepting Applications For Citizenship

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in space? To live in a nation off of Earth itself?

That opportunity seems to be upon us, a space station called Asgardia, will be housing around 150 million people. All you have to do is apply and see what happens.

If you want to be considered for the first 100,000 people to join, you can put an application in on their website by clicking here. One scientist Ashurbeyli, has said that we truly need a space-based nation that focuses largely on protecting the Earth. The group in charge are seeking out people who are adventurous, creative, and progressive to join their community.

It will be awhile before construction of the station will begin, but the first Asgardian satellite is set to be launched sometime in 2017. As of right now, it doesn’t cost you anything to apply, so why not try it out?

Ram Jakhu director of McGill University’s Institute of Air and Space Lab in Montreal has made the statement that:

“This nation will do things to help protect the Earth and, secondly, it will be for exclusively peaceful purposes and also allowing access to developing countries that don’t have that [space access]. So, if that is done, recognition will not be a major problem. If these four elements [territory, people, government, and recognition] are achieved it become a state and can apply for its membership of the United Nations.”

Meaning that if the launch of this soon to be ‘nation’ goes well Asgardia can likely become a part of the United Nations, and would be considered its own nation entirely. Once statehood becomes legitimate, things will blossom quite nicely for the new nation.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to go up into space and live there? This nation could truly be something beyond amazing. People living and working together in outer space.

Seems like something out of a video game or a science fiction movie, right? Living on a space station and protecting the Earth? Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? I am beyond excited about this, and whether I get to be apart of it or not this is going to be quite the progressive move. Will you be applying for citizenship for Asgardia?

The website states any person living on the Earth has a chance at becoming a part of Asgardia. The nation is going to be aimed as something to mine asteroids and even protect the Earth from things like meteors and even asteroids.
