An eye-witness has filed a report with the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) in the US, saying he saw the object in the night sky for a third time this month.
The witness claims to have witnessed an “oval-shaped object” above the New Mexico town for 10 minutes before he lost sight of it.
In a report to NUFORC, the man who has not been named, said: “On February 20, I was traveling on Post Oak Tritt Road, in Roswell, at 9.30 pm, and in the same area I’d seen this lighted flying object before, I saw it dart to the north of my car over some trees.
“There was another companion, but it was too far to the left of my car up in the sky and I could only visually track one object.
“I pulled my car into the tennis courts of my subdivision, up on a hill and watched until it came back into view.”
He claimed to have a video of the event, but it has not been uploaded to the NUFORC database.
He added: “It looks oval in the sky but on video more round.
“It had a white illumination. It is hard to tell at night the size of this.
“I’d say it was 1000 feet up in the sky. It was dark. It lasted for about 10 minutes.”
NUFORC is investigating the car and the man said he could provide video footage.
He added: “This is the third time I’ve seen this phenomenon.
“The last time was off of highway 120 which is abut two miles from this area.”
The Roswell UFO mystery is one of the longest-running and most perplexing UFO cases on record.
It stems back to July 1947 when the US Airforce sensationally announced in a press release it had found the remains of a crashed flying saucer in the desert nearby.
But the following day it retracted the statement, saying it was in fact a damaged US Air Force air balloon.
The U-turn has led alien chasers and conspiracy theorists to be convinced of a major cover up.
Witnesses later came forward to say there had been alien bodies within the “crashed craft”, which along with the wreckage were then taken to the mysterious top-secret Area 51 military base in Nevada.
None of this has ever been proven, and a video that emerged alleging to be footage of a secret autopsy on the alien bodies later proved to be a hoax.
