Eyewitnesses saw “police everywhere” after emergency crew were called to Blackfriars Bridge at around 8am.
Access to the station was closed and the bustling Southbank cordoned off.
The Met Police said: “Police are in attendance at Bankside, SE1 to reports of a suspicious vehicle.

“Cordons are in place while police assess the situation.
“Specialised officers are at the scene. Enquiries continue.”
It comes as the capital is on high alert following a series of terror attacks across Europe.

France and Belgium were yesterday warned that a group of armed ISIS militants were making the crossing from Libya with plans to target a shopping centre and a fast-food restaurant.
Events manager Callum, from Cobham, snapped a picture of the “suspect car” earlier this morning.
Several ambulances could be seen arriving on the scene at 9:11am.
