NASA’s Probe Sent Back New Images of Jupiter and the Results Are Spectacular!

Jupiter is a truly beautiful planet and as technology becomes more and more developed we can see even more of it. This planet is mesmerizing!

These images were taken by NASA’s Juno spacecraft during just its seventh flyby of the planet. The spacecraft is in a very wide orbit around the planet itself and is able to swoop down every 53 days in order to gather information and take images. The spacecraft must spend a lot of time further out as it orbits in order to avoid being damaged by Jupiter’s dangerously intense radiation.

    Power Quadrant

These images reveal Jupiter’s amazing bands of clouds and you can literally make out the storms raging on across the planet’s surface. Juno began this flyby on Friday and these images were released raw on NASA’s website. Members of the public were encouraged to process them and submit their own views of the gas giant themselves.

With each passing orbit researchers are able to better understand the planet itself. Many hope that during this experience Juno will help them to figure out what the core of the planet consists of and give them a better understanding of how that weird magnetic field works. That being said, only time will tell just how much we can observe from this spacecraft before it makes its way back home.

Juno is only going to be orbiting the planet 12 times, after that this if the spacecraft is in good health the mission could end up being extended. Take a look at some of these fantastic images yourself and let us know what you think. Jupiter truly is one big amazing mystery. How cool is this?
