Looking For A Fall Getaway? How About Visiting America's Most Haunted Lighthouse?

Are you looking for a great haunted place to spend a weekend? Are you negotiable on the availability of bathrooms? Then you’re in luck. One of the most haunted lighthouses in the U.S. is now booking weekends in its three-bedroom structure. The name of the joint? Execution Rocks Lighthouse.

Execution Rocks is located in the middle of the Long Island Sound between New Rochelle and Sands Point, New York. Since the 1840s, the lighthouse has helped guide ships coming into New York Harbor.

The lighthouse’s name comes from the preferred method of the British in that area for executing criminals and traitors back in the day. They would chain them to the rocks upon which the lighthouse now stands at low tide. As the tide came in, they would drown.

Also contributing the lighthouse’s haunted history was serial killer Carl Panzram. Panzram claimed to have killed 10 sailors during the summer of 1920 and dumped their bodies at Execution Rocks.

Needless to say, the Execution Rocks Lighthouse is very haunted. Every paranormal investigator who has paid a visit to the site has encountered something they can’t explain. Some common reports include ghostly talking, chilling screams, and mysterious black shadows that seem to move from place to place.

The lighthouse fell into disrepair and 2012’s Hurricane Sandy (pictured below) didn’t help things. As a way of raising money to complete the lighthouse’s restoration, you can now book an overnight getaway to experience the haunting for yourself.
