An ongoing conflict between Iraq and Syria, in which the “Islamic State” (ISIS) has been fighting against forces from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran has kept the Middle East in a state of devastation. Many believe that the battling is due mainly to black market oil and payments for ransom.
ISIS is now most well-known as the worlds most current and infamous terror group due to their graphically violent acts towards innocent people. There are many who question where the group obtains their arms from, and usually, the evidence has pointed towards the Free Syrian Army as well as other rebel groups who have ties to the United States.
In the video below, the group attempts to showcase their massive weapons artillery, and even drive through towns in tanks to recruit younger generations into their ranks. The weapons that are depicted in the video are obviously American-made, which might be a cause for concern.
According to Logistics 101:
“ISIS’ supply lines run precisely where Syrian and Iraqi air power cannot go. To the north and into NATO-member Turkey, and to the southwest into US allies Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Beyond these borders exists a logistical network that spans a region including both Eastern Europe and North Africa.
Terrorists and weapons left over from NATO’s intervention in Libya in 2011 were promptly sent to Turkey and then onto Syria – coordinated by US State Department officials and intelligence agencies in Benghazi – a terrorist hotbed for decades.”
Back in 2013, the London Telegraph reported that a CIA team had joined forces with an annex to provide missiles from Libyan armed forces to Syrian rebels. The New York Times then reported that the CIA had worked to deliver airlifted arms to the Syrian rebels.
While the Western world maintains that weapons are being provided to mere rebels or moderates only, it remains unclear as to whether or not ISIS is considered to be one of these groups in their eyes. If they were in fact only providing armament to moderates, it would stand to reason that these groups would be the ones who are currently running the show, rather than the ISIS terror group.
