British tourist who vanished from Spanish nightclub found dead


MYSTERY surrounds the death of a British tourist who went missing after a night out at a club in Barcelona.

The body of Sam Alger, 25, from Norfolk, has been found just outside Barcelona, in Spain.

A huge search effort was launched after the football performance analyst disappeared from a nightclub on Sunday.

Celebrities – including former TOWIE star Ferne McCann – helped spread online appeals for information.

Mr Alger was discovered apparently drowned in a drainage ditch.

His body was found in Viladecans – a large town about 25 minutes’ drive from Barcelona.

A post mortem will be carried out to determine how he died.

But police are not ruling out foul play.

Mr Alger was last seen in the Elrow Club in Barcelona between 10pm and midnight on Sunday night.

Police are investigating what happened after he left the nightspot.

A Facebook post announcing Mr Alger’s death said: ”We are devastated to announce he was dead at the scene found drowned.

“No one can quite believe what has happened and everyone is truly heartbroken.

“Thank you everyone for the help and support and prayers, we appreciate it so much.

“Sam was one of the kindest most genuine and loving people anyone could wish to know and to have him taken from us is truly heart breaking.

“While we know everyone will want to send their condolences can we please ask everyone to send their messages to the group rather than message the family who need their privacy.”
