The moonwalker, who was a pilot aboard the the Apollo 12 moon mission in 1969, said he does not believe aliens have ever visited Earth.

Mr Bean, 85, says if they had, they would have made contact and announced their arrival and shared high-tech innovations.

His view will anger the countless conspiracy theorists who believe there is a huge amount of evidence aliens are visiting in space craft. Many also believe world leaders know and are keeping the sensational news from the masses.

Mr Bean said an advanced race of extraterrestrials would be “altruistic and friendly”.

He said: “I do not believe that anyone from outer space has ever visited the Earth.

“One of the reasons I don’t believe they have been here is that civilisations that are more advanced are more altruistic and friendly — like Earth, which is better than it used to be — so they would have landed and said ‘we come in peace and we know from our studies you have cancer that kills people, we solved that problem 50 years ago, here’s the gadget we put on a person’s chest that will cure it, we will show you how to make it’.”

He said when we are able to travel to distant galaxies, we would do the same.

However, he is convinced aliens exist.

He said: “There’s so many billions of stars and these stars have planets around them so there must be statistically many planets around many stars that have formed life.

“Maybe some of them are like our life was 100,000 years ago, and some of them are like we are now, and there are probably some out there that are a 10,000 years in the future from where we are now.”

The Paridigm Research Group is run by Stephen Bassett, the only registered lobbyist in the US on the issue of alien disclosure.

He is convinced world leaders are keeping secret the existence of aliens on Earth, and wants the “truth embargo” lifted.

He said: The evidence that aliens have come here is undeniable.”
