I don’t mean to toot my own horn or anything, but according to science writers are actually highly intelligent! There’s no doubt that writers have uniquely creative brains but I had no idea that we are actually considered highly intelligent.

People who like to write are gifted in many different ways than the average person. Some people, or most people these days, hate to even read things. Everyone is much more interested in media such as the internet, videos, or television. However, those who still enjoy reading and writing are actually highly gifted. In fact, writing can actually improve intelligence!

    Power Quadrant

According to science, writers are able to learn quicker than those who do not. In a study of two groups of students where one took notes in the classroom through handwriting and the others took notes on their laptops. The researchers found that the students who hand wrote their notes actually retained more information than the ones who didn’t. The students were able to filter through the relevant information because they couldn’t write every single detail down. Students who take notes on a laptop are taking notes more in the form of dictation.

Studies have also found that writers are also better at organizing and processing information. This is because it can be difficult to write down everything they want to because it requires processing and organization to stay on topic. This requires a continuous processing of information that allows them to think clearly in critical situations.

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”
    Sylvia Plath

Like Ms. Plath says, writers are even able to cope with negativity better than those who don’t. One study focused on three groups of unemployed engineers. They found that those who had to write about their condition regarding their current state of unemployment were twice as likely to find a job eight months after the study. (53% versus 24%)

Power to the writers and the introverted people who spent more time in a notebook than they did at any party! We finally have proof of intelligence! Next time you think about improving your life try writing down everything you’d like to fix. It might make you extremely more proactive!
